Vintage City Classics make some pretty awesome jewelry!

Hello Folks,
Today was a good day.  My fiancĂ©'s jewelry and accessories company (Vintage City Classics) had me shoot their new collection.

My knees are shot and my memory cards are full, which means.... Success!

I had the pleasure of working with Kelly and Kim, two very lovely ladies who were kind enough to put up with my swearing, bossiness, and general poor behavior.

Attitude

I have done shoots before with the Ladies of VCC but this was the first one with my new photogenic strobe.  What a huge difference good lighting makes especially in the editing process.  Our location was Bryant Lake Bowl, a local pub / bowling ally. A big thanks to Laura and Brendan for the use of the lanes.

The only bad part of the day was when my camera started sassing back at me, I got my first taste of the very vague "Err 99" on my Canon 30D.  I tried every thing; removing the batteries, using an eraser on the contacts of my lens and camera, shouting loudly at it.  To no avail still got all the shots and everybody wins.

Again thank you to everybody involved it was a great day of shooting and learning.

Onwards and Upwards.

Peace,
Garrett

Winter............

We got hit hard again.

It makes one wonder,
why even shovel in the first place?

If anybody was fooled into thinking
winter was over,

shame on you.

It is nice to have a fresh coat
to cover up that nasty nast

Grafix

this past year has also opened up some opportunities other then photography.  I have also been moon lighting as a graphic designer.  Here are some examples.

These First two are examples of the flyers I have been creating for the monthly art shows that would shown on the 2nd floor of the restaurant where I work.  Can you guess what the name of it is?

Movie Nights on the Patio! look for them soon.... Patio opens on 03.31.11

I just finished this today.  Part of a series of posters created to raise awareness of the sweet ass vibes coming from the 2nd floor of moto-i.

And these last two are examples of menus I have created for moto.  The brunch one is my pride and joy, plus the food is sups tasty.

Okay enough of moto-i

This next image you might recognize.

I put this together for my friends' band the Teddy Holidays, you gotta check them out.
they also happen to know the entire blue album by weezer and played it all the way through a couple of weeks back.

And last but not least I was asked by my good friend Tom to create a brand for his new company "Keeper Konnection"
They specialized in the training of young goal keepers in the midwest area.  another thing to go and check out.  It's one of it's kind

My Favorite Wedding Shots of 2010

As the second year of shooting weddings concludes for me I can help but be excited for the up coming year.  I already have 5 weddings booked, two of which are in the same month as mine.  I'm sure it will be hell but hey, it's what I wanna do.

Please enjoy a select few of my favorite wedding images of 2010.

DIY Beauty Dish

I recently have been loving the Strobist blog.  Not only does it have great tips for lighting with on camera flashes, but it also outlines how to make your own light shaping equipment.  So far I have made a grid spot and a 14" beauty dish.

Above is an example of light from the beauty dish. and below are examples of my "home-made-unknown-value-gridspot."

Varsity Theater Makes a Couple Out Em'

Last weekend I shoot the Ricci wedding, it was a blast on many levels. first of all I knew one of the bridesmaids, and lets just say she is a crazy cat lady.  Secondly the reception was held in the varsity theater, in dinkytown Minneapolis. Which is where my fiance and I have chosen to hold our reception.  It was really cool to see how the entire night will look for us next year.  Invitations coming soon.

Here are a few mash ups I was playing with.  Hopefully the couple likes them.
