DIY Beauty Dish

I recently have been loving the Strobist blog.  Not only does it have great tips for lighting with on camera flashes, but it also outlines how to make your own light shaping equipment.  So far I have made a grid spot and a 14" beauty dish.

Above is an example of light from the beauty dish. and below are examples of my "home-made-unknown-value-gridspot."

Varsity Theater Makes a Couple Out Em'

Last weekend I shoot the Ricci wedding, it was a blast on many levels. first of all I knew one of the bridesmaids, and lets just say she is a crazy cat lady.  Secondly the reception was held in the varsity theater, in dinkytown Minneapolis. Which is where my fiance and I have chosen to hold our reception.  It was really cool to see how the entire night will look for us next year.  Invitations coming soon.

Here are a few mash ups I was playing with.  Hopefully the couple likes them.

The Case of the Upside Down Wedding

I recently was shooting a friends wedding for extra photos,
and I snapped this one of the reflection of the ceremony.

I was really happy with how it turned out, so I used it as a business card image.
When I got the cards naturally I gave them to everybody I know.
This image however,  gave people a hard time.

They started turing the card around not sure which way to hold it.  Now the image is stronger to me up side down..... I need to be printing more.  It never would have occurred to me to flip it over, if I didn't have a hard copy.

Just another little lesson in my journey.

moto-i meets mortal kombat

Paul Paul Molnar drew this mural for moto-i.

He broke his shoulder during the making of it, because
moto-i employees can't ride their bikes properly.  I'm knocking on wood people.  On a side note the thumb on right hand had to be edited because the first one looked like a penis, so come in and see this masterpiece for yourself.  If your lucky I will be your bartender.

Thursday was my first fashion show.  It wasn't your typical runway shoot, all the models were on bikes in the Grainbelt bottling building in North East Minneapolis (only one crash happened).  Twas a good time. Thanks to Tim and Thom Navarro for thinking of me.
